The community had secured grant funding to provide a MUGA. The primary use would be football, but the surface needed to be suitable for a variety of other sports.
NewbyLeisure took advice from our supplier Verde Sports, and recommended Verde MP24 sand dressed artificial grass with 10 mm rubber shockpad.
Due to time and budget constraints the base groundwork was carried out by a local contractor with help from us. Newby Leisure supplied and installed 4 m high rebound fence all round with two access gates. The rubber shockpad and playing surface were then laid. There was also a requirement for floodlights. These were supplied and installed by Newby Leisure, with electrical connections being completed by local contractor. Finally the surface was sand dressed at manufacturers recommended rate.
Due to very inclement weather conditions access was very difficult. In order to prevent too much damage to the grass sports pitches the main access for materials was through the field next to the sports field. It was not possible to get delivery vehicles in here so all materials were unloaded and carried by off road forklift, or trailer and 4 X 4.
